    West African Dance Class - 60 minutes

    Your group will learn traditional styles from Mali, Senegal, and Guinea with live drumming, singing, and cultural history. The focus is on why movements are executed, not just how. Participants explore polyrhythms, body isolations, and call-and-response, gaining insight into the deep connection between music and dance in West African traditions.

  • 02.

    West African Dance Performance - 30 minutes

    Dancers and drummers will perform live drumming, singing, and dances from the African nations of Mali, Senegal, and Guinea.

  • 03.

    Dance and Drum Lecture/Demonstration - 60 minutes

    An interactive presentation where instructors explain the history and cultural significance of African drumming and dance while demonstrating rhythms, movements, and techniques. Sessions include audience participation.

  • 04.

    West African Drumming Class - 60 minutes

    Learn a variety of West African drumming rhythms. Kakilambe will provide drums for up to 10 participants.
